As a Patient Support Specialist, you’ll provide remote assistance to patients at our urgent care clinics from our headquarters in downtown Birmingham. While patients complete their check-in process on kiosks at our clinics, you'll guide them virtually, ensuring everything runs smoothly. You’ll also verify insurance, handle billing inquiries, manage medical records, and provide exceptional support to create a seamless experience for our patients.
Location Requirements:
- Headquarters in downtown Birmingham, AL 35203: This position is in-office (not remote). You must be able to commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
What You’ll Do:
As a Patient Support Specialist, your role will focus on two key areas that are essential to ensuring a smooth patient experience at our clinics:

Virtual Patient Registration Assistance:
You will guide patients remotely through the check-in process at our urgent care clinics as they complete their registration on kiosks. Your support will ensure a seamless experience for patients, helping them navigate the process easily and efficiently. -
Eligibility Verification & Billing Support:
A primary responsibility will be verifying insurance coverage and urgent care copayments for patients. You’ll also assist with addressing billing inquiries, ensuring patients’ financial details are accurate and processed quickly and efficiently.
Additionally, you will:
- Follow up with patients via phone calls, portal messages, or emails to address any questions or concerns they may have regarding their visit or account, offering friendly and efficient support.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as updating patient records and performing data entry to maintain accuracy.
- Manage patient referrals and process medical record requests, handling them with attention to detail and ensuring all information is processed correctly.
Your contributions will directly enhance the patient experience, ensuring that each interaction is professional, helpful, and efficient.
Schedule:
This role follows a rotating 5/2 schedule:

Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Week 2: Wednesday and Thursday

Weekday Shifts: 12-hour shifts from 8:30 AM - 8:30 PM

Weekend Shifts: 8-hour shifts from 1:30 PM - 9:30 PM
You must be able to work 12-hour shifts on weekdays.
What You Need:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office
- 1+ year of office or customer service experience (a plus!)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience with billing inquiries, referrals, or medical records is helpful but not required
- A positive, team-oriented attitude with a passion for helping people
